Why to be bra fitted, not measured?
I learned by experience, working for years as a bra fitter specialist, that bra measuring means nothing. The most important is: "if the bra fits, wear it!"
It's so true, that many lingerie stores have abandoned the use of the tape measure, preferring to assess each bra individually rather then tell women they are a particular size. But, most women want to be measured because they are hoping this will make their bra shopping experience easier. They don't like trying on a lot of bras.
It is important that women understand there are discrepancies between manufactures' sizes, and they may be a different size in different shops/stores, just as they would be with clothes and shoes. In reality, a woman can be more than 4 different sizes. A bra, depending on the brand and style, and even different colors in the same style and same size can fit differently. This is true because the dyes in the fabric can shrink it.
Communicating with customers is fundamental to find the right fit. Asking questions about the problems they are having with the fit, what size they are using, how they wash and and dry their bras, etc. All the answers will help to determine what size to start with. Unfortunately, 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size and don't know it.
Each customer has their own special needs and problems with comfort. All women are shaped differently, and all bras are cut differently. One bra that works for one woman, will not work for another. So, it is normal to try on a bunch of bras until you find the right fit, the one you feel comfortable, the one you like.
It is important to check your size regularly. because our bodies changes all of the time. Weight loss or gain, pregnancy, menopause, illness, hormonal shifts, are some of the things that can affect your bra size. It is suggested to get refit about every six months to a year.
It is important for bra fitters to recheck your size and start fresh each time you try on bras, you may be "in between" sizes, some brands will fit differently, and your body may have changed.
Most women should have at least 4 bras in their wardrobe, but ideally you should have seven, one for each day of the week. Never wear the same bra two days in a row. Bras need time to rest in between wears. Always hand-wash and hand-dryer, because your bras will last longer.
